We Can Juice Anything!


After coming home from the garden with way more veggies than we could figure out what to do with, getting a juicer seemed like a great idea.


I did not want just another cheap appliance on my countertop or something we would use twice and relegate to the hidden depths of the kitchen cabinets, so I read through a lot of reviews and decided on the Breville 800JEXL juice fountain elite.


Ordered in Thursday and delivered on Friday, it arrived in time for us to turn beets, carrots, strawberries, watermelon and all kinds of other fruits/veggies into flavorful juices. This juicer lived up to all the positive comments I have read.


It was very easy and intuitive to assemble. The pieces are well designed and parts are solid (nothing flimsy or cheap about this baby). There are only three settings–high, low, off–so very simple to use. It hums, but is not overpowering in terms of noise (you know it is on and working, but the neighbors won’t complain). The chute is wide enough to handle big pieces of fruits and veggies without extra prep.


There are a couple of drawbacks, though it could be that all juicers have these issues. It has many pieces to keep track of, some are dishwasher safe and others are not. Since you have to wash the juicer pieces pretty much every time you use it, it can get to be a lot of work. Also, it splatters a little bit between the cover and the pulp container. Not a huge issue, but definitely noticeable when juicing beets.


Looking forward to exploring the infinite world of juices now that we have the equipment.

Changed my veggie intake for the positive and machine is hardy


I am not going to go into great detail about features but I will say that I now have a 20 oz. glass of fresh vegetable juice every morning as part of my daily routine. This is coming from a man who rarely ate vegetables (especially raw veggies). I also seem to enjoy snacking on raw veggies such as carrots, snap peas, radishes which I do not think I would be doing if I wasn’t out veggie shopping for my juice; however, I cannot attribute raw veggies snacking to having the juicer


I am sure there are many other juicers (I reviewed quite a few online) but I am very pleased with the Breville Juice Fountain 800JEXL.


Amount of juice:
I get 20 oz. juice from 2 carrots, 2 tomatoes, 4 celery stalks, 1/3 cucumber and 1 cup spinach.

Ease of use:
Very simple – we’ve joked about juicing pizza and burgers as I believe this thing could handle it
I juice most everything on the high setting and it takes very little effort to put veggies through and even less for fruits. Although, I rarely juice fruits.


Ease of cleaning:
Parts rinse clean nicely with hot water and the grate is fairly easy to clean when using the brush that comes along with the machine and hot water. I also put all the components in the dishwasher once a week or so for thoroughness.I spend 15 minutes total to get veggies from fridge, wash team, juice them, rinse/clean all juicer parts, reassemble.


One thing is the plastic parts will “cloud” up over time but vinegar and baking soda take care of that.
